The umbrella insurance policy that is. According to an Investigative Report on FoxNews in Milwaukee, a Wisconsin Supreme Court case has spelled out L.I.A.B.I.L.I.T.Y. for parents when it comes to cheer injuries and who is going to pay for injuries not only for their own children, but injured teammates as well.

Cullman High School cheerleaders celebrate state title win

In the state of Alabama, there are only a couple of schools that have been well known for producing championship cheerleading teams consistently.

If they hadn’t been counted among them before, the Cullman High School varsity cheerleaders cemented their place in the record books recently by winning their fourth consecutive Alabama High School Athletic Association state championship.

Three cheers for cheerleader safety

In the year since Kimberly Archie founded a nonprofit organization to shed light on the lack of national safety regulations for high school cheer squads, the mother of a former North Medford High School cheerleader has helped place cheerleader safety concerns on the national radar.

Archie, who now lives in Riverside, Calif., helped form the National Cheer Safety Foundation in January out of a support group of cheerleader parents called the Bring It On Safety Alliance.

The foundation’s spotlight on increasing cheerleader injuries and the absence of safety regulations in some states has made its way into the New York Times, the Washington Post, Time Magazine, ABC News, Canada’s CBC News and the London Telegraph, among other news networks and publications. People magazine also is working on a spread about cheer safety and interviewed Archie and co-founder Ruth Burns, whose daughter, Ashley, died in a cheerleading accident, for the article.

Silver Spirit Cheer Club starts off competitive season on top

The 53 members of the Silver Spirit All-Star Cheer Club of Minden started their competition season with three first-place awards at the America’s Best Championship competition in Sacramento on Nov. 15. 
“We swept the board. All three teams got first place in their divisions,” said Paige Young, co-owner of the club. “It was a good way to start the season.”
Additionally, the Silver Spirit youth squad won the event’s grand prize of a paid trip to the Las Vegas Supernationals in April.

Second title for Dell Rapids cheer team

Competitive cheer has only been a sanctioned sport for two years in South Dakota. In each of those two years, Dell Rapids has won the Class A small team cheer stunting and tumbling division at the State tourney. The latest coming on Nov. 15 at the Summit and Activity Center in Yankton.  Coach Magen Richeal had a pretty good idea the girls would place first. 
They had done it in seven out of eight earlier events.

Local gymnasts make national cheerleading squad

Maddison Dombroski, 15, of Tottenham, and Kaleigh McIlveen, 16, of Angus have been chosen for the Canadian Cheerleading Union’s national team to compete at the 2009 International Cheer Union Cheerleading World Cup Championships in Orlando, Fla.
In all, 40 countries have entries in the competition.

Two squads vie for national cheerleading title

The Riverside Bulldogs and the Delran Bears cheerleading squads are headed to Disney World next month.

The two Burlington County cheerleading teams plan to compete in the Pop Warner National Championships held at Lake Buena Vista, Fla., from Dec. 8 to 12.

The teams earned spots to compete for the national title after placing second in their divisions in the Eastern Regional competition held at the Sovereign Bank Arena in Trenton last weekend. The Delran squad cheers in the pee wee division of the Pop Warner football league and the Riverside team cheers in the midget division.

East Tennessee Cheer & Gymnastics Team Wins Cheerleading National Title

The East Tennessee Cheer & Gymnastics All-Star Cheerleading Squard, consisting of girls from 8 to 18, won the National Cheer Stars competition in Gatlinburg over the weekend. 

They won first place in their division and are National Champions. 

They also won the whole competition and received the titile of GRAND CHAMPIONS. This means that they beat every team there, all divisions.

Waimea wins 4 in a row

With its superior tumbling skills, the Waimea High School cheerleading squad won its fourth consecutive Kaua‘i Interscholastic Federation championship yesterday at host Kaua‘i High School.

The Menehune, under the coaching of Roxanne Cardejon, posted a whopping 293.5 score, trumping its fellow KIF counterparts by more than 73 points. Kaua‘i’s Lady Red Raiders finished in second with a score of 220 and Kapa‘a rounded out the league at 218.5.
